Ad A crushed it for eleven days. CTR up, CPA down, the client stopped asking questions. Then on day twelve it started to slide. You swapped in ad B, the one that tested almost as well in your pre-launch round, and it came out of the gate flat. Not bad. Flat. Nothing like the test said.

So you blamed the creative. Maybe the hook was weaker than you thought. Maybe the algorithm never found its footing.

Ad B was fine. The audience was tired.

That one idea is the reason we built Mimic the way we did. First, the mechanics.

## Fatigue doesn't live in the file

We talk about "fatigued creative" as if fatigue were something that happens to the ad. It isn't. The ad is identical on day one and day twelve. What changed is the people. Specifically, the few thousand your campaign has already reached four, six, nine times.

Consumers notice. In Epsilon's 2025 survey of more than 500 US consumers, 88% said they see the same ad repeated at least occasionally, and 53% said they frequently see the same ad multiple times in a short period.

So when ad B launches to an audience that has already absorbed eleven days of ad A, it isn't being judged on its own merits. It's being judged by people whose attention is already spent. Every exposure left a residue, and the residue didn't clear when you paused the campaign.

Which means your pre-launch test is answering a question you never asked.

## The one-at-a-time problem

When teams test before launch at all (60% don’t, and say it’s for lack of time and budget), the test, whether that’s a panel or a quick in-platform split, evaluates each ad fresh. Clean slate. Nobody in the panel has seen ad A, so ad B gets a fair hearing it will never get in the wild. That isolation is deliberate, and it’s the right design for picking a winner. It’s the wrong design for evaluating the strength of a campaign, its ads, and its sequencing.

So it’s not a test of your campaign. It's a test of one ad, removed from valuable campaign context and dependencies.

Real campaigns are flights. Ad A runs, then B, then C, often across two or three channels, and each one lands on an audience shaped by whatever came before it. B's job isn't to win a beauty contest against A. B's job is to add something after A has already done its work and left its scars.

If your test can't see that, it can't tell you which ad to run second. And second is where most of the money goes.

## What it takes to simulate a tired audience

Mimic doesn't stop at scoring ads. It builds a population of simulated people, drawn from the same Google and Meta audience definitions you're already buying, and runs your whole flight against that one population, in sequence, with every creative and channel you plan to use.

The population persists. When a simulated person sees your first ad, a few things happen that stay with them. Their fatigue ticks up a little, which makes them less likely to stop on the next ad they see. Their awareness of you rises, then starts to decay on a curve. Their attitude toward the message shifts, for better or worse. Then the next ad arrives, and it has to get past all of that.

A simulated person who has been hit three times in two days is harder to stop than a fresh one. A person who has been dark for a week has shaken off some of that fatigue, but not all of it. And exposures on one channel change how the next exposure on a different channel lands, because Mimic carries that cross-channel history forward over a short lookback window rather than treating each channel as its own universe.

So when the results come back, you don't just get a score for ad B. You get what ad B contributed, in the position you actually plan to run it, after ad A has already touched the same people.

That's the difference between ranking creatives and simulating a campaign.

## What this changes about how you plan

You stop asking "which ad is best" and start asking "which ad is best *here*." The right opener and the right closer are often different ads, because the audience that sees the closer is not the audience that saw the opener.

You can see where fatigue bites before you've paid for it. If the simulated population tires faster than you expected, you know where to cap frequency on day one instead of discovering it on day twelve.

And you can give an underperforming ad a fair trial. Sometimes the ad that tested "flat" is a strong second-position ad that was simply tested in the wrong position.

## Run your next flight before you buy it

Load your creatives, pick your audience and channels, set a budget, and see what ad B does when it lands on people who have already met ad A. Before day twelve, not after.

That's the dress rehearsal. Rehearse it, then run it.

The first week is free. After that it's $50 a month, and you can cancel anytime.
